FIRST VIRTUAL DEBATE COMPETITION



Young Lawyers Forum - Kashmir Organized an inter-university debate competition on the theme 'Media Trials Must be Criminalized'. The competition received a tremendous response as students from multiple leading institutions of Kashmir Valley participated. The event witnessed fierce competition and fiery arguments on both sides of the theme. The event was adjudged by Senior Advocate Mohammad Altaf Khan, Advocate on Record (Supreme Court of India) Firdouse Wani and Advocate Hasnain M Khawja.


The team from Faculty Of Law, Central University of Kashmir was declared the winner.


At the end of the competition, one of the Hon'ble Jury members also announced a cash prize of Rupees 3,000 for the best female speaker.


We congratulate all the participating teams for an enthralling display of knowledge and articulation. We also thank our Hon'ble Jury members for gracing our event with their presence. It is a moment of immense joy for the YLF family to have successfully conducted their first debate competition and it gives us the encouragement to keep going.


The results of the Event were as follows:


Winners and Best two speakers: Adam Iqbal and Shahid Ahmad Dar from Faculty of Law, Central University of Kashmir


Third Best Speaker: Toufeel Rasheed Chalkoo from Central University of Kashmir


Special Award of Cash Prize of Rs. 3000 awarded to best Female Speaker namely Mehak Hamid representing Sopore Law College. The cash prize announced by the Hon'ble Jury member, Advocate Hasnain M Khawja has been awarded by Saaya NGO as part of their larger initiative of empowering the women in the valley.
